{"id":102,"date":"2020-09-29T03:33:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T03:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chintasutra.com\/english\/?p=102"},"modified":"2020-09-29T20:12:38","modified_gmt":"2020-09-29T20:12:38","slug":"three-sonnets-by-kazi-rahim-shahriarriar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chintasutra.com\/english\/three-sonnets-by-kazi-rahim-shahriarriar\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Sonnets by Kazi Rahim Shahriar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The Golden Partridge-01<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>There is no endearing lover, though this heart seeks her<br \/>\nThere is no such things as pure love, impurities flow in the blood<br \/>\nOnce who come with pretensions of love are only temporal<br \/>\nDid you not saw, the whole world is bankrupt on the issue of love?<\/p>\n<p>Does the heart have any value in the pomp-tinged glitter?<br \/>\nLove\u2019s merchandise puts on the lighted decore of festivals<br \/>\nLike a lonely bird I hide my secrets and my diffidence<br \/>\nCoddling hyge pain in a wounded heart.<\/p>\n<p>I still walk on this path, the heart after all is not a mere machine<br \/>\nAnd trade everyday in the marketplace of love<br \/>\nEven though in the name of love dreams come and disappear<br \/>\nThe heart is inundated in tears, who is there to care?<\/p>\n<p>Tell me, who is more hopelessly fallen in love, so easily ensnared?<br \/>\nRadha and shyam with their short-lived romance would be no match?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The Golden Partridge-02<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>If I happen to catch the beloved\u2019s pair of eyes that, like Noah\u2019s Ark<br \/>\nIs a haven of promised shelter, at some auction<br \/>\nI would by the pair with the price of my love-drenched heart<br \/>\nHoping they would diffuse the light of faith and affection.<\/p>\n<p>O bird, does your nest get destroyed by sheer want of faith<br \/>\nLike man\u2019s nest does in the storm of tribulations?<br \/>\nNo matter how much care I put into building the nest it breaks down<br \/>\nSeeking assurance in safety I look towards the bird\u2019s habitat.<\/p>\n<p>The way birds return to their nests everyday at the end of day<br \/>\nWeariness of the day\u2019s hard labour is shaken off<br \/>\nFear and anxiety are carlmed, cooled anew in their beings<br \/>\nI too should heed to Noah\u2019s bidding and embark for the crossing.<\/p>\n<p>Not just an earthly nest, I am in search of a golden pool<br \/>\nWhere coral and lotus bow in prayer on shoal of love\u2019s paradise.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The Golden Partridge-03<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>The wounded heart look\u2019s for love in all corners of the world<br \/>\nYet how much of that world\u2019s love is stored in that very heart<br \/>\nI have not quantified, nor have I found the right metaphor<br \/>\nSo, is the world being cruel by keeping love close to its own heart.<\/p>\n<p>Like the huming birds I come home at the end of the day<br \/>\nAnd find that there is not as much love as the need dictates<br \/>\nThere must be discrimination in love, or else it is all a game of hearts<br \/>\n\u2026 a sleight of hand and there is no telling who wins or loses!<\/p>\n<p>There is discrimination in our love for the creation<br \/>\nAnd the love for the creator is spiked anew each day<br \/>\nPerhaps it is the unfulfilled love that sets the scene<br \/>\nPerhaps the eternal love speakes only in your tongue.<\/p>\n<p>Where did you get that love from which Lord?<br \/>\nGive me a share of that which is held your heart.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Translated from the Bengali By <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Prof. Farida Mazid<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Golden Partridge-01 There is no endearing lover, though this heart seeks her There is no such things as pure love, impurities flow in the blood Once who come with &hellip;
